SOFT COTTON COUNTY
These future folksters first released a record in the last century. Mainly melodic ambient pop (what some might call the darker side of “Dream Pop”).
A song-driven band, based in and around Richmond, since their album with 5000 Records late in 2009, they have gradually been moving towards the light
(Mr Steve Lamacq of the BBC played the title track of their acclaimed EP “Leave Tomorrow” and two other tracks have since featured on his shows.
They have the ear (sometimes both ears) of some notable music presenters in Germany, have been played on Paul Baskerville’s NDR show (do you know him?)
and Radio One Berlin (ahh John Peel country!!), as well as claiming a small but healthy following on college radio in the US and Canada. Chris Pearson
of BFBS and Radio Caroline also looks favourably upon Soft Cotton County’s sound of milk and rain.
